Souls of the Harvest, Flash Fiction Online, and YouTube

One of the finest editors I’ve ever worked with is Jake Frievald. In 2008 Jake was publisher of the excellent ezine Flash Fiction Online. He ran my little slice of Americana called “Souls of the Harvest” that year, about a farmer’s connection to the land. He later recorded it and added a peaceful little music track. The recording ended up on YouTube some time after that. A flash fiction piece is a very short story of 1000 words or less, and “Souls of the Harvest” is barely more than half that–522 words, if I remember correctly.
